Bertie
& Belle @ December
2011. Below is their
second update. We had
a very busy Christmas
with family and friends
coming and going, both
cats coped very well
and stood their ground,
no hiding or running
to our bedroom for refuge,
they were both very
sociable and friendly.
They did however spend
most of their spare
time scaling our 8ft
Christmas tree to retrieve
the fairy from the top
(our own fault as the
fairy had real feather
wings), taking it in
turns to remove, baubles,
beads and candy canes
on the way. The tree
remained in tact (just
about) but was very
comical with bits flying
off.
Belle
has become top cat
very quickly even
with Bertie's superior
physical strength,
she is defiantly in
charge, she also has
the brains of the
pair.. very quick
to work things out
and get into or out
of things. She sends
most of the day following
around Maxim as he
plays and is not at
all shy with any of
us anymore, she is
really rather brave
these days, I think
she will miss Maxim
(and a quiet house)
when he heads back
to nursery on the
11th.
Bertie is a darling,
friendly and very
loyal he follows me
everywhere and lays
at my feet or as close
as he can as I move
around the house.
he allows everyone
to cuddle him and
make a fuss, especially
with Maxim, who cuddles
him a lot, he is never
nasty and is very
patient with him.
He wakes me every
morning without fail
to demand breakfast
with a gentle paw
in the face and licks
my neck till I either
stroke him and he
settles next to me
or I feed him, all
depends how hungry
he is.
They
are now totally at
home, they sleep all
night at the foot
of the bed, come when
they are called (90%
of the time), wag
their tails so hard
when we have been
out their little bodies
move from side to
side, sit on the edge
on of the bath at
bath time and drink
water from the running
tap as we clean our
teeth. They are fascinated
by water, from taps,
showers and glasses
and spend time fishing
with paws and drinking
running water whenever
they can. Bertie has
also taken a liking
to a particular palm
plant I have which
is looking worse for
wear. Not interested
in the others just
this one.
We
are thrilled as they
have exceeded our
expectations as members
of the family, they
have wonderfully different
personalities but
are both amazing little
cats. Cannot imagine
ever owning anything
other than a Siberian
cat, the joy they
bring (and create)
is wonderful.

Casper
has now joined Sheila
and Douglas @ October
2011
He certainly is full
on - we have had to
pad our headboard as
it is leather and he
likes to climb! He also
leaps through the air
which is rather funny
to watch - no wiggling
of the hips just a leap
into the air and landing
forward a couple of
feet!
But he is a delight.

The
lastest update on Boris
and Krasnyi @ March
2011. Both are doing
well. When they first
arrived they were very
timid. Krasnyi especially,
hid behind the furniture
and neither of them
would come out when
we were around. It took
Boris 2 or 3 days to
start to gain his confidence
and Krasnyi a little
while longer. The laser
light game really helped
as Boris enjoyed chasing
the light and Krasnyi
would come out to watch
him. After a week, we
were sitting on the
sofa and Krasnyi just
walked across our laps
and then a few minutes
later came back and
curled up between us.
After that every evening
she would come up for
a cuddle.
The laser light game
and fighting each other
were their favourite
games and that has now
moved onto fighting
each other and chasing
flies. As the weather
has been so nice we
let them out in the
garden when we get home
from work and they love
stalking and trying
to catch flies. I don't
think they've succeeded
yet, but I do have visions
of them running in one
day with swollen lips
from attempting to catch
a bee. We've discovered
that Boris is a "dumpster-diver"
as he loves to stand
on his back legs and
then delve through a
waste paper bin to see
what he can grab. Tissues
or old receipts are
then picked out of the
bin and Boris proudly
trots off with his prize.
We've now learnt to
ensure that bins are
kept empty and Boris
has moved onto delving
though my hand bag....
We've taught them to
come when called which
probably works about
80% of the time. Krasnyi
is more likely to come
and Boris is.... well,
Boris is a little boy!
He is more laid back
than his sister and
only tends to curl up
on a lap when his sister
isn't around but I think
the reason for that
is mainly because Krasnyi
loves attention. If
Boris is on a lap Krasnyi
wants to share it and
if you call Boris's
name, Krasnyi will come
running. I'm sure it's
to check she isn't missing
out on any fuss and
attention. They love
being fussed and stroked
and they enjoy their
grooming sessions.
It's lovely to see how
their personalities
are developing and how
they've outgrown certain
games (at one point
just the sound of the
lid on the laser light
game was enough to get
Boris charging downstairs
and skidding to a halt
to play). Now, he isn't
interested. I guess
flies are just more
exciting. I hope this
has given you an idea
of how they are getting
on. We bore every one
we meet with tales of
the 2, and everyone
who's met them has fallen
in love with them.
